One Month

Miss Elizabeth, you are already one month old, and I swear time is flying by even fast than it did with Will, which I am certainly not a fan of.

So far, you have proven to be almost as laid back as your big brother. You really are an easy baby, but seem to have some trouble settling down in the evening hours. Some nights are totally fine, and there are some nights that you kind of cry off and on for no apparent reason from about 6 until around 8. I've read this can be completely normal, but something that we didn't really deal with with Will, as far as I can remember. Typically it's your daddy that can get you calm, and (much like your brother), you love sleeping on your daddy's chest any chance you can.

You are nursing great, and the scales definitely show that! When we were discharged from the hospital, you weighed in at 5 pounds and 11 ounces. We ended up making a surprise trip to the pediatrician the next day (you were just a little jaundiced, and the mommy worry hit that afternoon and I was completely convinced that you were getting worse, rather than better, but you were totally fine), and you were already up to 5 pounds and 12 ounces. The following Monday we went for our one week appointment, and you had already exceeded your birth weight and weighed 6 pounds and 2 ounces! That weekend you had been cluster feeding a good bit, and I knew you would be getting really close to 6 pounds, but had no idea you would be over!  Such an over-achiever. Because of your ridiculous weight gain, we didn't have to go back at two weeks, and were told to just come back when you were a month old.

At one month, she weigh 8 pounds and 1 ounce! Go big girl! And you have grown 1/2 an inch, so you are now 20.5 inches- 20th%tile for weight, 25th%tile for length, and 60th%tile for head circumference. I looked back at Will's stats, and in true lady like style, you are a little longer and leaner than your brother was at this point. Your head is also a little smaller, as big brother's has always been bigger than the 97th percentile.

We aren't really on a schedule yet, but that's on my agenda for the upcoming month. On average, you eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours during the day, and 3 to 4 hours at night. There have certainly been a few nights that were a little more frequent than others (eating every 2 1/2 hours a few nights shortly after we were home), but overall I can't complain. Thankfully you get your tummy full and then go back to sleep easily. For that I am very grateful!

As of now, your eyes are the same deep blue your brother's were at this point. I think they'll probably stay blue if I had to guess. Your hair looks different in different lighting. At birth it was dark, but it seems it has lightened up a good bit. Most of the time it looks like a dark blonde, but in the sunlight it looks more strawberry blonde. I'm anxious to see if it stays this color or turns lighter or darker!

Also this month, you got to meet your future husband. :) My dear friend Brittanie had sweet baby George on February 26, so you two are almost exactly one month apart! It was love at first sight if you ask me (or at first belly bump, whatever). So exciting to share this season of life with one of my dearest friends!

Miss Elizabeth, you have expanded our hearts in ways we didn't know possible. You already have your daddy and your brother wrapped around your tiny little (long and skinny) fingers, and of course your mommy is pretty crazy about you too. You are so precious to us, and we are so thankful God gave you to us! We love you baby girl!

Easter 2014

We had such a nice, relaxing Easter this year with the most perfect weather imaginable. If we could get weather like this every year for Easter, I would gladly accept how late it was this year!

Miss Elizabeth was just shy of being 4 weeks old on Easter morning, so I made the difficult decision of the two of us not going to church this year. But daddy and big brother went together, and then we reconvened at Nonnie and Pop Pop's house for a delicious lunch after church.

That morning, Hunter got up and cooked us a delicious breakfast. While we were waiting for it to finish, the kids (that is still so weird for me to say!) got into their Easter baskets to see what the Easter bunny  brought them.

Sometimes you have to cave and let them have candy with breakfast...

The boys headed out to church together in their most dapper attire. Will wore yet another one of his daddy's precious outfits this year. I just love that we have so many of his sweet heirloom things, and I love that Will has a daddy that still lets him wear his button on shorts, jon jons, knee socks and lace! :)

Miss Elizabeth got another wear out of her beautiful coming home outfit as well. I thought she looked so sweet in her little bonnet!

Although I hate being so far away from my family, especially on holidays, I am so thankful that we are at least so close to Hunter's family. Holly and her precious family, and Taylor and his bride-to-be also celebrated Easter with us.

Nonnie found these hysterical bunny glasses somewhere, and the kids thought they were so funny! I have to admit...they were pretty funny in them!

After our yummy lunch, we let the kids run loose and hunt eggs, and hunt some more, and gather, and hide and gather and hide and gather and hide again, until they realized that playing in the dirt was just as fun!

These sweet children played and played and played that afternoon, and even got to skip naptime. At one point Will was just standing there kind of zoned out and we said "Will, are you sleepy?" He simply responded with a very flat "yes." Never in his life has that child ever admitted to being tired! And he was all right. He fell asleep before we even made it back home, which was about 10 minutes away.

This little angel got her beauty sleep in too, and could have cared less about all the excitement that was going on around her that day!

What a sweet day that we were able to celebrate with our family, and what a sweet celebration of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

A belly button and a bath- part 2

Much like her older brother, this little peanut finally lost her umbilical cord around day 16. I didn't think that thing was ever going to fall off! We were finally able to give her a real bath (as opposed to a sponge bath), and she really liked it!

And this was completely unintentional, but it turns out the night we gave her her first bath, the only swaddle blanket we had clean was Will's baby blue one. So for comparison's sake, here is baby girl (first picture) compared to her big brother (last two).

The obvious difference between them is that head full of hair! We still can't get over all that dark hair. This isn't the best picture comparison of the two of them, but we are certainly starting to see more and more resemblance between the two of them. More on that to come later!
